We are delighted to celebrate UNIMA’s success at the 2024 International Conference of NGOs in Official Partnership with UNESCO. Looking back at December 2024, we saw a historic moment when Svetlomira Stoyanova, a distinguished member of UNIMA Bulgaria, was elected Chair of UNESCO’s NGO Liaison Committee for the 2024-2026 term.
Svetlomira’s election is a testament to UNIMA’s dedication to fostering international cultural exchange through puppetry. Her background in theatre studies, cultural management, and international collaboration has made her a vital figure in the global arts community. She has played a significant role in theatre production, festival organisation, and cultural policy development, bringing expertise and passion to every project she undertakes.
This milestone reflects UNIMA’s growing influence within UNESCO and its continued commitment to strengthening the role of puppetry in cultural diplomacy. From its involvement in the ResiliArt initiative to its efforts in African cultural projects and the Puppetry Collaboratorium, UNIMA continues to make a lasting impact on the global stage.
We are incredibly proud of this achievement and excited to see what the future holds under Svetlomira’s leadership.
