Puppetry at the Heart of Healing
Barcelona brings together international creatives and therapists as Puppet Therapy BCN prepares for new online training this autumn
This month, our friends from Puppet Therapy BCN shared a powerful update from their latest international training in Barcelona.
Their work brings together puppetry, embodiment, trauma-informed practice and artistic research in a truly unique way. As a community rooted in creativity and care, we’re always inspired by their commitment to therapeutic puppetry and excited to hear about what’s coming next. Below, we’re delighted to share their July newsletter in full.
This summer, the vibrant international community of Puppet Therapy BCN gathered in Barcelona for the 5th International Training in Puppet Therapy, Memory & Trauma. Over four immersive days, participants explored the therapeutic potential of puppetry through the pioneering Neuro Puppetry Method™. Friends of BrUNIMA are proud to spotlight this powerful work at the intersection of art, psychotherapy, and embodied research.

NEUROPUPPETRY METHOD™
Last week we completed the 5th International Training in Puppet Therapy, Memory & Trauma, guided by the Neuro Puppetry Method™. Over four intensive days in the heart of Barcelona, 17 participants from various countries gathered to live a deep, embodied, and transformative training experience.
In this edition, we explored the therapeutic use of puppets from a neuro-informed perspective, combining theory, practice, and shared lived experience. The course was carefully designed to offer a pedagogical experience that goes beyond the academic: we aimed to awaken the body, memory, and imagination within a space of listening and creation.
We were deeply moved by the visit of four former students from our previous online editions—finally meeting in person! Each participant’s presence reaffirms the relevance of this ever-evolving method, at the crossroads of art, psychotherapy, and living research.
We know this journey has only just begun. These training experiences allow us to continue shaping what we call the New Contemporary Puppet Therapy: an approach that transcends classic models of transitional objects or Freudian frameworks, toward an embodied, enactment-based practice rooted in the present moment. This approach embraces new epistemological turns that highlight the body, silence, space, and animated forms as entry points to complex memory and trauma.
New trainings are coming soon! Our next online edition starts at the end of October, and more surprises are on the way.

We hope to meet again. For now, we share with you a few images and key moments from this intense and beautiful Puppet Therapy encounter in Barcelona.
