Palestinian Puppetry Artists. Now exhibition
A powerful exhibition at Figur i Fossekleiva (Norway) celebrates Gazan and West Bank puppeteers working under extreme conditions. September 19 – October 19, 2025
An Update from Puppeteers in Gaza
We recently received an inspiring new update from our friends at Camp Theater in Gaza. You can read the original story and how you can help here.
While the crisis escalates, founders and members of the troupe among other Gazan puppeteers continue to find camps to evade the bombings while providing relief to other children and families. As food supplies are severely reduced, costs have escalated with fundamental needs requiring hundreds of dollars per day. They therefore continue to reach out for aid for themselves and their own children. BrUNIMA among other UNIMA centres and artists around the world continue to lend their support financially and advocate their rescue, art, and the end of the situation.
Palestinian Puppetry Artists. Now.
Through occupation, bombardment, starvation and displacement, puppetry artists continue their work.
This autumn, Figur i Fossekleiva (Norway) presents the exhibition Palestinian Puppetry Artists. Now., highlighting the extraordinary work of puppeteers from Gaza and the West Bank who continue to create despite unimaginable conditions.
Featured Artists
Nadil Khateeb (Al-Tantoura Theatre, West Bank)
Diana Al-Swaitti (Fridge Theatre, Hebron)
These artists use puppetry to support children and communities through storytelling, performance, and education—turning art into a tool of resilience.
Norwegian Artists Contribute
Norwegian artists Runi Langum, Peter Knudsen, Lena Heggelund, and Kamsvaag/Bergsten will each present original poster artworks dedicated to one of the featured Palestinian artists.
