The Vale Arvoredo Cultural Hub is pleased to announce its National and International Call for the 2026 edition of the Estações Arvoredo Project. This program welcomes artists and cultural creators from Brazil and abroad to take part in transformative residency experiences that merge art, nature, and sustainability in a preserved rural setting.
This international open call is dedicated to artists working in puppet theater, body-based practices, and collaborative experimentation. It encourages creative exchange rooted in the landscape, the living culture of Brazil, and a deep relationship with nature.
🌿 The Residency
Taking place within a 14-hectare ecological sanctuary—ten hectares of which are untouched native forest—the residency is designed as a space for immersion, encounter, and transformation. Participants are invited to explore artistic processes that intersect with ecological awareness and cultural regeneration.
The residency is part of Vale Arvoredo’s long-standing commitment to connecting artistic practice with environmental stewardship and community-based knowledge.

Unknown Territories – Shadow Theater (Module I)

Facilitators: Cia Teatro Lumbra (Alexandre Fávero & Fabiana Bigarella)
A deep immersion into body, light, darkness, and silence, grounded in over 25 years of experience in shadow theatre.
Mask Territories – Mask Theater
🗓 February 4 – 10, 2026
Facilitator: Serge Nicolaï
Inspired by the work of Théâtre du Soleil, this residency explores improvisation with masks and Javanese puppets, emphasizing sensitive presence and bodily precision.
Body Expansions – Puppet Theater
🗓 February 21 – 27, 2026
Facilitators: Carolina Garcia & Dante
🪆 This experience focuses on puppet construction and animated theater, integrating movement, perception, and spatial relationships.

🌱 About Vale Arvoredo
Founded in 2010 in Morro Reuter/RS, Brazil, Vale Arvoredo is one of the first artistic residency spaces in the country. Created by Carolina Garcia Marques and Paulo Balardim, the space invites artists from diverse disciplines to live and create in a setting where art, culture, nature, and sustainability intersect.
Spread across 14 hectares, including 10 hectares of untouched native forest, the site features a waterfall, stream, and ecosystems that support deep ecological and cultural reflection.
