BrUNIMA is thrilled to share this wonderful opportunity from our UNIMA friends in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
We are delighted to invite our members to a special Artist Talk on Lambe Lambe and marionette craft, featuring two exceptional puppetry artists: Rosana (Roxi) López from Argentina and Ana Lorite, co-director of Naranjarte and General Secretary of UNIMA Aotearoa NZ.
This event is free for all UNIMA members, and we warmly encourage our community to attend.
About the Guest Artists
Rosana (Roxi) López — Argentina
Rosana is the director of El Alma en un Hilo and an internationally acclaimed marionette maker and performer. With over 12 years of experience animating delicate, expressive string puppets, her work is known for its emotional detail and extraordinary craftsmanship. She is currently visiting Aotearoa New Zealand en route to the Nanchong International Puppet Festival in China.
Ana Lorite — UNIMA Aotearoa NZ
Ana is a puppeteer, educator, and co-director of Naranjarte. She works extensively across visual theatre, object theatre, and cross-cultural collaboration, and serves as the General Secretary of UNIMA Aotearoa NZ. Ana will also provide live Spanish–English translation during the talk.
What They’ll Be Sharing
Rosana and Ana have been travelling across Aotearoa over the past month, delivering puppetry workshops in Christchurch, Rotorua, and Wellington. Their artist talk will explore themes, methods, and stories drawn from this journey.
Lambe Lambe: Small Acts, Big Meaning
At the recent PAYPA Hui in Ōtautahi, they introduced participants to the magical miniature world of Lambe Lambe theatre—a form of puppetry typically performed for one audience member at a time.
Portable, intimate, imaginative, and deeply connective, Lambe Lambe invites us to “do more with less” and holds powerful potential for classrooms, festivals, youth work, and community storytelling.

String Puppets: Movement, Craft, and Character
They will also reflect on their 3-day immersion workshop in Rotorua, where participants created their own marionettes from concept to performance—exploring sculpting, balance, assembly, technique, and character movement.
This talk is an unmissable chance to learn from two exceptional artists working across cultures, forms, and communities.
