Honouring Women Puppeteers on International Women’s Day 2025
Celebrating the creativity, dedication, and impact of women in puppetry
Women have long been at the heart of puppetry—crafting, performing, directing, teaching, and shaping the art form in countless ways. Yet, their contributions have often remained in the shadows. On this International Women’s Day, UNIMA International proudly celebrates the remarkable women in puppetry whose work continues to push boundaries and tell powerful stories through movement and imagery.
At the upcoming Chuncheon Congress, we will honour 11 extraordinary women, recognising them among the many who have shaped the history of puppet theatre. To all women puppeteers—your artistry, passion, and dedication are invaluable. Today and every day, we acknowledge and celebrate your impact on the world of puppetry.
