We’re sharing an exciting opportunity from our friends at the Newcastle Puppetry Festival — a brilliant platform for puppetry and visual theatre artists.
🌟 Newcastle Puppetry Festival 2027
Prospective dates: 3rd–11th April 2027
Application deadline: Sunday 24th May 2026, 11:59pm (UK time)
The festival is currently inviting applications from artists and companies working across puppetry and related forms.
They are looking for:
Indoor stage shows (adults & teens)
Indoor stage shows (children & families)
Early years performances
Outdoor walkabout acts
Outdoor shows
Cabaret acts & sideshow oddities
Masterclasses & workshops
Other puppetry-led work and creative experiments
Focus areas include: puppetry, object theatre, stop motion, kinetic art, and automata.
(Work without these elements is unlikely to be programmed.)
💸 Fees & Support
All selected artists are paid, with travel, food, and accommodation covered.
Applicants will be asked to provide a fee quote.
🌍 Who Can Apply?
Open to artists worldwide
The festival particularly welcomes applications from:
Disabled artists
Global Majority artists
Artists from working-class backgrounds
If applying from outside Europe, consider seeking local touring or mobility funding, as international travel budgets may be limited.
