GRADUATE RESIDENCIES AT THE PUPPET CENTRE

12-month graduate residencies for emerging puppetry companies and/or practitioners

1st February 2010  – 31st January 2011


 

 

The Centre for Excellence in Training for Theatre at The Central School of Speech and Drama

A Graduate Residency provides:
• 4-weeks of rehearsal space per company at the Battersea Arts Centre (BAC);
• Monthly Creative, Artistic and Administrative mentoring from the Director and Administrator of the PCT;
• One place per company at PCT Master classes or appropriate workshops (subject to availability);
• Access to PCT & Central's extensive puppetry library.
• Promotion through the CSSD & PCT websites along with the PCT's E-Magazine; Animations Online.
 
 Additionally, successful applicants would have the opportunity to:
• Present work in progress at the National Student Puppetry festival in May 2010 at Central to an audience of professionals and trainers;
• Present the outcome of their work through an end of residency presentation held at the BAC in autumn 2010. 
 
In return you will be required to provide quarterly reports and document your work for CETT and PCT so that we can profile your work, both nationally and internationally.
 
 How to apply:

Applications must be submitted electronically.

Applicants for the Residencies should have graduated within the last five years and have at least 12 months professional experience.  They must be able to demonstrate a sustained interest in making performances with puppets or objects.

You are asked to provide:
• A company or professional profile detailing the work that you have produced to date;
• A supporting statement (no more than 2 sides of A4) outlining the way in which a Residency could help in developing your company;
• An action plan for how you intend to use the year and what you hope to have achieved by the end of the 12-month period.

The selection process:
 
 Graduate residency recipients will be selected on the extent to which they are able to demonstrate:
• A sustained interest in making performances with puppets or objects;
• Innovative and imaginative approach to theatre making with puppets / objects;
• A willingness to share and disseminate their work with students and fellow practitioners.

Please note: This scheme is aimed at attracting applicants from across the sector and not limited to graduates from the Central School of Speech and Drama

The applications will be judged by a panel of puppetry and arts professionals and academics.
